    Rooted In Blue is an AfriMod indigo project that pays homage to heritage, spirituality and resilience. The history of indigo is as African as it is Gullah Geechee. It is a history rooted in horrors, inhumane conditions and unspeakable suffering--yet the color indigo and blue endured to bestow aesthetic elements to the creative world community.

    In the Rooted In Blue project, AfriMod worked with Yoruba “adire eleko” and “adire eleso” traditional patterns as well as Gullah Geechee sweetgrass basket weave patterns. We paired these elements with shades of blue--from indigo to Gullah Geechee haint blue. And by deconstructing and reconstituting multiple elements we were able to evolve several design properties for our Rooted in Blue home furnishings collection.
